The Day The Music Died

The Day The Music Died

A Poem by Crowley
"

Written a prompt of the painting by Dunkees. The painting is of the same title.

I turned up the heat
Turned down the beat
Not knowing what happened
Exactly

Trying and succeeding
Unlike rolling and flowing
Can’t be preferable
Exhausting

As my whims took over my sense of pride
The melody of my life shifted, melting
Lovely pieces of soft, globular gunk
A running river of rhythm out of sync

Seeing the devastation, burned sheet music
I pulled out my pen and threw you a bass
You counted it down and I wrote
About the day the music died
