A Poem by Crowley
"

Musings from vacation

"
You can get tired walking on the beach
But, you will keep going, burning, observing
You know the palapa bar is around the next cove
And the margarita will be sweeter
That girl has her top off
I don't think I am supposed to notice
American guilt I guess, I look anyway
I romanticize living in paradise, "No Bad Days"
But then realize that there is no such thing as paradise
Only places with or without a Wal Mart

Your poem kinda makes me love my life a little more, living here in paradise as I do. Thanks for reminding me how it used to be, trying to cram all that paradise into an insufficient amount of time! Love your realistic & unique viewpoints on everything (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

"But then realize that there is no such thing as paradise
Only places with or without a Wal Mart"
I love this, and it kinda hurts.

God, this poem depresses me in the best possible way...
like, you know when that existential dread sets in
and even pretty things look bleak because you know they can't last...

Just when I thought I could shake the funk,
here I am reading you and slipping right back in,
it's like quick sand,
some sandy sink hole on a sun-soaked beach,
I don't hate it,
like Dostoevsky's underground man
I kinda enjoy the nagging pain,
the pain of future non-existence,
I sure hope heaven has a wal-mart...

Great write!

Maybe she took her top back to Walmart and they just didn't have one to replace it.
so she got her money back and took a walk on that beach.
and certainly she wanted you to see her in all her glory....

you keep burning, observing, writing...and we get to be there with you. And I promise I won't look at her.
