Snapping at Wind ChimesA Poem by CrowleyDon't leave em' behind. The breeze eats at the stillness of a summer day Frustrated, heat weary dogs, wander aimlessly Checking the empty water bowl to no avail Aging double time in dog years, tongues swollen
The backyard wind chimes tinkle low at first Canine eyes see them warily and with malice Breeze gives way to wind, barbecuing frayed nerves The dogs jump and snap as the chimes play their death march
This foreclosed property forgot about mans best friend Did you think for one second what it must be like To be forgotten and left to wither and die, lonely When one whistle and a jump in the car would have changed things
