Holding Hands

Holding Hands

A Poem by Crowley

Holding hands is often the first and last thing we do with someone we love
Our true nature coveting the branching of root and leaf, nut and seed
When I held yours for the first time, doubt was cleared, your fingers were magic
The last time was filled with doubt until you could no longer hold, slipping, winking, finality

When I think of all the times I held your hand in between, I contemplate the meaning of love
And hope that there is someone holding your hand until you pierce the veil and start anew
Until then I vow to hold as many hands as I can in the hope of your return, I will know
And wonder where the time has gone and what you will be thinking when time loosens my grip

Beautiful poem tender and touching, the touch is the thing, the touch of love, of loss, of human contact, just one touch, loved the sentiment,

couples don't do this enough anymore...for us when i was younger...holding hands was a big deal, the early kisses a big deal...we have lost something now...something special...but you bring it back...but then remind us how, yes, time will loosen the grip....but maybe not the memory.

This poem shows a simple yet significant gesture such as holding hands can fortify bonds between souls that are glad to share life together. For in holding there is mutual consent, there is stability, security and trust, there is shared warmth that only touch can provide; and in that act there is reciprocity (which is vital for love).

There is no sweeter sight than seeing a loving couple walking blissfully hand in hand.
Well done for reminding us all of the importance of holding hands, that universal gesture of love that transcends class or social status, for love rules the world.

WELL DONE

Thank you!!! Sorry for the late response, ben out for a bit.
Holding hands. A kindness given when love is alive and well. Like when we hold a child hand. To keep them safe. A simple act that show great love and concern. Always a pleasure to read your work my friend.

You are welcome my friend.
I've never heard anyone make "holding hands" sound so impactful! I'm kinda reeling at how I never noticed this & you slam it home with intensity. Holding hands is everything you mention, so much of it being missed by many. I never thought to wish that someone would be holding the hands of a loved one missed . . . that is one of the sweetest things I've ever heard. You write alot of butt-kickin' stuff, but I think this heartfelt tone is more representative of your true nature (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

The first sentence is profound in meaning, and something that had never occurred to me. Both beautiful and sad, but how things must be. Excellent writing, my friend.

We are such lonely creatures. Yet we desire to be with others When a woman touches a man his first thoughts are that she is allowing him into her space. Thats the best time
