A Century Ago

A Century Ago

A Poem by Crowley
"

Some people are old souls with vast hearts....

"
It’s not the first or the hundredth life
You live not in the stream of times river
But instead on the current of space and time
I can see your eyes, hundreds of them, soft
But only two look this way, unlocking light

Can you take me to that space in your bosom
That sees a man's span and depth, wading
Small feet tip toeing and sprinkling wisdom
Because you need more people that know

Yesterday was only a century ago

to be honest, I've been far from reading, reviewing or even writing poetry for quite sometime now, but yesterday I stumbled by Your poem, the title and the note beneath it were enough for me to know what I will read in the following of Your words, and I intended to review it later.

what interests me in poetry is not the beautiful words, I always say that many can write beautiful words, what interests me is the way these beautiful words or any other words are weaved to go deep into my mind or/heart, even to resonate softly, strongly in my inners and spirit, and Your poem here is strongly one of them, going into a deep place inside me, so profoundly, so mystically, for me they are more than just "written" words. in life, there are ancient souls, these souls as You've said who have "vast hearts", they are larger than life, within them You find comfort and a certain mystical warmth, You feel a certain dread, that dread which comes from their deep and profound spirits, which comes from the secret of existence that flowing in their essence.

if one of them is Your "She" and She is opening Her arms for You to rest and dive in Her bosom, open back my friend, all that what You have, and You will be blessed of how there is always "more" for You to open up.

Thank You my friend, for sharing Your words and what lays "beyond" them, with me, and with all of us here, a real pleasure to meet You.

You are very kind, "thank You" You my friend.
I find this a spiritual write. There are people who have old souls and the wisdom that covers much living. I wonder about re-incarnation and think why not? A hundred years is nothing in the span of time and yet if you analyse the changes in society that have happened over 50 years let alone 100 it is huge. The advances made in technology etc are phenomenal. This poem is thought provoking. Yesterday I met a lady in the nursing home where my mum is living, who had celebrated her 100th birthday last week. She showed me her birthday greeting from the Queen. Bright as a button, she is an avid reader, she has lived through times that we only read about.

Thank you Crowley.

Chris

I'm not sure about the intent of your message, but I'm sent back to a time when we explored "past lives" in a spiritual way with another sister, a psychic medium. Your poem says to me -- forget about digging up the past where yesterday could be a century or an hour ago (love your title & ending line) . . . there are too many ancient stories to untangle & doing that is just an escape from our present tangle anyway!
