Just Fly

Just Fly

A Story by Crowley
"

Just a little diddy…think of it as country.

"
Life leaks, trails of tiny memories, and
Time speaks, when we're slowly sipping wine
Your head, backlit in a summer sky
Back porch talks never seem to fade from style

And when the time comes to say my name
And I come clean with all I know
I'll fly and be everything to everyone

     Just like grandma's hokey fables
     Just like building greenhouse gables
Camping neath the boughs of an ancient oak
Just meet me at the table
     I won't fit you with a label
We'll save the world over an icy Diet Coke
     And just fly...

You say, you'll hold on to what you know, and
You pay, with your heart and perfect soul
My path, found you and all your reverie
New friends can't see you til you've shed your skin

And when the time comes to say my name
And I come clean with all I know
I'll fly and be everything to everyone

     Just like grandma's hokey fables
     Just like building greenhouse gables
Camping neath the boughs of an ancient oak
Just meet me at the table
     I won't fit you with a label
We'll save the world over an icy Diet Coke
     And just fly...

And when the time comes to say my name
And I come clean with all I know
I'll fly and be everything to everyone

     I'll just fly...

This does feel like a country song . . . but it also feels more like conventional poem-writing than what I've come to expect from you . . . still, always fresh & original, never cliché . . . love the assorted details in your repeated chorus resembling the detritus of jumbled love (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

While reading this, I was reminded of that movie title 'Call me by your name'.
This reads smoothly to me with a sweet, gentle undertone to it.
Such a lovely, romantic write by you, Crowley! Different from what I've so far read of you but I liked this very much. :)
I'll just fly away now lol :P

You're welcome, Crowley! And still here ;) :p
My view while reading was lost as a reader, Not really a format and word choice did not make sense to combine the poem. It seemed like an intro to a short story not a poem,I did not really grasp the poem as a reader. Good effort and keep penning!!!

Thanks for the read! it’s a song, from a prompt.
The strongest element of the lyrics, I think, is the chorus. It flows really nicely and the rhymes are well done. The issue I have is with the verses. The ending line doesn't seem to rhyme with any of the others.

Those lines are purposeful, but I think you kind of need to hear the melody that is only in my head .. read more

Exactly, thanks Sette!!
“And just fly...” so romantic and sweetly tender Crowley. Gentle, lyrical and very musical verses that would capture any woman’s heart I think. Ingenuous and memorable bridge with great rhythm and rhyme all through the song. I am not a country music expert, but i feel these lovely lyrics and they move me. Now I’ll go about my business- ha!

Thanks Dee!
I liked this song, poem...lyrics, verse...it made me think on the collaboration of thoughts and ideas shared between different writers in the creation of something new belonging to the sky...not just to fly but to soar. Always a pleasure to read your work, outstanding.
