Portrait of the Artist

Portrait of the Artist

A Poem by Crowley
"

Thee are people that are meant to inspire...

"

I saw two thoughts floating behind a pair of bible blue eyes

Take me with you, I promise to mind the days

And carry your sack of inspiration, ready at a moment’s notice

And keep your secret in the chestnut box carved by northerly breezes

Locked until your grandfather’s untimely death from loneliness

A light for seeing

A light for warmth

A light for sharing views

A light for eating maple bars

And one to light the pews

A light to kill the specters laugh

A light to still the dogs

I’ll hold that light til’ morning comes

And chase to mud the frogs

I saw two thoughts floating behind a pair of bible blue eyes

Your slingshot modifiers matching mother nature’s  boldest strokes

I pulled tight the brim of my cap to shade the brilliance

Of verse torched from solid steel plate and freesia stems

As a woman you have built believers out of dirt and paste

As an artist you shape my universe……..

This must have been dedicated to someone highly respected to inspire such quality poetry. Art in word form. Crafting believers out of the essential tools: the hands, the heart, the passion is what inspires one to believe. Watching someone build magnificence and construct something so fine with reference to their imagination is admirable. I love art. I also love watching people doing the very thing they love because of the fire behind their gaze and time dedicated. To shape a universe. This led me to believe that this person captured true self in art form, which is an amazing feat. I gladly respect this. Great read.

and you inspire us with this work---artists who give credit to other artists who paint portraits of them in oil or in words...there is humbleness that is endearing to that...
reading other poets is most inspiring...we need that touch, that torch to be lit.

Thank you for coming by, I really appreciate it.
I’m not knowledgeable about poets in general becuz I never read any poetry before I started on this website two years ago. I intended to write short stories, never thinking of myself as a poet. But as it turns out, many of the best poets on this website have inspired me to write more poetry than I ever expected to in my lifetime! Your poem here is an inspiration, too, becuz of the way you mix up the form & especially the middle stanza that’s so interesting & original. To me “light” means inspiration here. The phrase “bible blue eyes” is also another of your amazing word crafting delights (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
