Ghost in the mirror.

Ghost in the mirror.

A Poem by herohappenings

I have see your smile reflected
a thousand times across these
distorted walls in this
maze of mirrors in my mind.

And in these silent moments,
I hear the sound  of your chuckle,
echoing back and forth
between my love-sick hemispheres

And behind my eyelids, I can
see your gaze piercing my pupils,
and I see your eyelids crinkling
at the corners the way they
always do when you laugh
at the sentence I don't even
have to finish.

I wish I could find you.
But everywhere I look there is just
another reflection of you,
and I don't even know where
the light is coming from anymore.

And I feel like someone has given me the
wrong prescription glasses,
because everywhere I look I see you,
and I see you in everyone I see,

In old lady who give me
your understanding look while
I wait to pay for my groceries.
Or in the little boy on my street
who flashes me your mischievous grin.

But In my lost world of illusions,
in this amalgam of conflicting images
I know,
that this vacuous world seems
so much brighter and clearer,
because I knew you.
