Far yet near, Near yet far

Far yet near, Near yet far

A Poem by Hermione TC Lai
"

Comparing a long-distance relationship to a close-proximity relationship.

"

Long drive

You get further away each day,

yet our trust deepens

although it gets harder

to see your face

in every space.

Between these blank spaces,

He, on the other hand,

is so close to touch

yet so far to reach.

I made him play with

my puzzle pieces.

He is a wise one,

but he cannot read,

cannot read all of me

as an open book.

I stay by his side,

but my heart rests in another continent.

Perhaps the young map does not stay consistent.

Here I am,

Standing in front of

the two of you.

I can no longer tell

whose face is whose.

Who are you within me?

Who am I in the both of you?

Who am I in myself?
