No One is Coming to Catch Me

No One is Coming to Catch Me

A Poem by Sarah
"

A lovely sestina

"

Word after word,
Day and night
Is it love? I kiss you and I know
Something’s always coming
Give me time to believe in you
You hold me captivated in your palm

I look at everyone else’s hand, but no one’s ever read my palm
Time is chasing me and I can’t stop it from coming
In the sea of sheets you whisper in winds of loving words
Some day we’ll be holding hands till the end, that I know
Can’t help it, I believe you
I know you’ll hold me tight in the dead of night.

I fell asleep; it’s getting late tonight
Is it love? I don’t know
We have the world inside our palm
We sat beneath the lilac sky, love is coming
I climbed up a mountain and looked off the edge, there are no words
I wonder if you’ll always think of me, like I think of you

We are stuck inside a sappy love song, me and you,
Stuck and no one’s coming
To help us out, rain is falling quickly, this is it, tonight
We’ve reach the kissing scene, we don’t need a single word
My hand is held securely inside you’re palm
Is it love? I think now I know

I felt your soul follow mine; I miss those first days, when I didn’t know
what would happen next. Still today even if it’s not the same I don’t know whats coming.
You make hope there’s a God, so that when I die I’ll still see you.
Your cheek fits so perfectly inside my palm
Doesn’t matter anymore, it’s my heart that beats inside your chest on this night
Love is blind, I wish I had met you a lifetime ago, and then we wouldn’t need any words

I remember all those drunken passionate night, we made promises with honest words
You said I was you everything, I told you that you were my world, on that night
The night that I ran out of ways of saying I love you
Love came, I knew it was coming
I welcomed it with open palms
Is it love? Yes it is this I know.

Today, on this late hour of the night, I put my palms together
And I pray. I don’t know who’ll listen to my words; I know it won’t be god.
I’m falling, I have no hero coming to catch me, I have you to believe in, fall with me.
