The Summer We HadA Poem by Grace KobylinskiThe next girl who will hold your hand.
Six months later and a new girl
sits with her leg folded over the other on your patio chair. She looks around and notices all the beautiful flowers, creeping vines and plump succulents. She compliments the garden and all the work you've put in. You manage to choke out a haphazard thank you. But, your mind drifts off to the summer we had when we planted them all together. The summer we had before winter swiftly crept up and took everything away from us.
