The Great Unknown

The Great Unknown

A Poem by HelloitsUyen
"

writing project for school had to choose three characters from different social classes like middle class, high class, low class, etc they all have to meet somehow.

"

When the time comes, it's a way to go, go to a place that's unknown.

A bum walks by so hungry

and looking up to the clear blue sky

His face as pale as snow

face covered with scars from what? no one knows.

His hair so gray

like ashes in an ashtray

torn up jeans and a t-shirt is all he had

and a picture of his childhood with his dad.

Suddenly he looks down, down to the ground

he spots a bagel.

So cold, so alone, laying down on the cold street

he runs towards it without any care

eats the bagel; so delicious; so rare.

He decided to give a litte pray

when a teacher walks by

he was late for work

he kept saying "Oh my, Oh my"

In a hurry he pushed the bum

which gave him a fright.

The teacher started to run

he had no time to care about the incident

so he continued running down the pavement.

The teacher was a great man

knew what he was talking about and always had a great plan.

He was tall and very thin

his face always had a grin.

So optimistic he was

never gives up when push comes to shove.

As soon as he reached the school

the bell already rang.

Five minutes late.

the children patiently wait

As he barged through the door

with breath no more

he started to review yesterdays lesson

about symptoms of depression

As the hand reached to three

it was time for the kids to leave.

The teacher shouts with glee:

"If you want to pave your future pathway,

come along to career day."

As he parked in front of the school

he noticed some flashing lights

as he comes closer

he saw a woman in black tights

She was an actress

wore a dress that's strapless

Eyes green like jade

hair was an updo

on the side was a braid.

Walks with her head up high

ask for an autograph? she'll let out a sigh

roll her eyes and say you're wasting her time

Finally she walked into the school

the kids saw her and thought she was cool.

She went to the table and answered a few questions

the teacher came in curious

of why that lady chose to be an actress.

"Make it quick!", she said while lighting a cigarette

that conversation was the last and only time they met.

She walked to her car and decided to go for a drink

drank so much her face turned pink.

She danced until three

it was time for her to leave.

She got her purse and left from the bar

struggling, struggling to get to her car.

Her visions was blurry

but she drove in hurry.

CRASH! she got out of thecar

nothing was broken; no scratches so far

Next to the car was a man

bleeding on the ground

Sirens were heard in the background

as help was on its way

they picked the man up

The actress noticed something that dropped

it looked like a piece of paper

A note of some kind

she flipped it over from behind

only to find it was a photo

of a man and his child

Three people who travel alone

into what we call the great unknown
