Sufficient Unto MeA Poem by Helena
~ Sufficient Unto Me ~
They could show me the rivers of paradise but that would be nothing if your love ceased to flow The cool of the palm trees would not ease the burning oasis of my soul If you went from my life… ~ They could show me the footprints of the prophets But if you did not run towards me I would be lost in the desert sands I could smell the sweetest rose in the world But its scent would fade if I could not sense you near me... ~ They could give me all the gold in the world But one ounce I would not take if I was never to see you again They could hand me the sun in my left hand and the moon in my right But even that couldn’t console me without my beloved by my side... ~ They could offer me the whole universe and say it is mine, But I would refuse because I already have it... You are my paradise, my sheltering palm tree, my poet of sweet words My scent of a rose, my sun and moon... My night and day... Everything I want and have ever wanted That is sufficient unto me.
