THE INNOCENTS

THE INNOCENTS

A Poem by Helena

They sat by moonlight’s glow of sprinkled stars

pledging their undying love…

the sky lit up with the redness of Mars

in their arms they held the world of love to their breasts and

the promise of Venus’ deliverance imprinted on their hearts ~

the moon disappeared in the midnight sky

to thrust these lovers in ebony space to the point

beyond ecstasies’ petalled path

won from the struggle of two lost lovers drawn

by gravity to each others arms ~

Eager lips pressed and love whispered sonnets

written in the passion of amore’s pen of righteousness

they lay in each others arms then

with the peace and tranquillity of innocents they slept and

dreamed their dreams forever ~~

Ah, but love's pen doth impute righteousness does it not? I really liked that line; an astute observation on social behavior. This was almost sci-fi in its feel which was very wonderful to me. I love the old sci-fi like Ray Bradbury and Arthur C. Clarke. But this was love poetry as well, an unusual but remarkably delightful mixture. Great stuff.

With the peace and tranquility of innocents.. As they should. *smile* This was beautiful. I'll agree about the sci-fi feel, but it felt just right. Thank you.

One thinks Tristan and Isolde almost, though re-told in starry ink and heartwarming style... with just a dash of Montague and Capulet to round it out there at the end of 'forever'.

I have already apologised to Arthur Crow after I was mortified
that I pressed the wrong "review" button and accidentally
said that I didn't find his review constructive......which is
nonsense of course! I found it to be very wonderful indeed!

Arthur has forgiven me!!! lol.....sweet man that he is! ~ Helena ;)
