GREY DREAMS

GREY DREAMS

A Poem by Helena

GREY DREAMS

You came to me in colourful dreams once...

I only have sad grey dreams now

Not the vibrant almost real ones ~

Like a gold ring on a merry go round

Just out of reach, I held on whilst

Tauntingly, like impish elves

They played with my mind ~

Soon they will not return at all

There will be no point

That gold ring will never be caught

You see you took it with you

With the promise of forever ~

A dreamless sleep is what awaits me...

When that night of nothingness arrives

Dreams will be lost into the void

Like bad friends I will bid them goodbye

As they won’t matter anymore ~

~~~
Oh! So beautiful but so sad. And the gold on the rings of "promises of forever" are always a false one! It is a bright ring but the "forever's gold" just stays in it for each day it is really felt, then it melts away with the feelings  but then, as I see it, "forever" is just today!
The question of found and lost, love and languishment and promises made to be broken... excellent.
