Dark Night of the Soul

Through the dark night of the soul

No treasure maps to guide me

No helpful signs along the way

No hiding from that bird of gloom...

Through loneliness’s grey shadings

Over starless and moonless slumbering

Under clinging shrouds of blackness

I have been one acquainted with the night…

When hope was adrift on seatides

Witches rode hideous brooms

In dead ebony sky…

Cold shivers run down my spine

A grave digging of sifting memories

When I lost my way in a labyrinth

Of disillusionment and pain

In one short moment of time.

Nice flow and imagery. Yeah, it's a very plesurable write.
I like the ''delicate'' manor in wich your sadness flows into verses.

Incredible emotion in these dark lines

'When hope was adrift on seatides / Witches rode hideous brooms / In dead ebony sky' beautiful, frightening, shadowy, lost words

Your writing always flows, whatever the content or theme. Thank you for sharing them.

That's so strange that you based this on Robert Frost's poem when the title refers to a 16th century mystic. His book was titled The Dark Night of the Soul. His book deals not with depression, but purgation of the senses. Commonly mistaken in modern culture for depression.

When I lost my way in a labyrinth
Of disillusionment and pain
In one short moment of time

This portion of the concluding stanza rings true to my own experience.
