“A Wounded Heart”

James E.(Jeb) Benthin

Art thou to me as refiner’s fire to swords furnace

For your sword of the Spirit cuts deep into the heart and soul

Instill a willingness to embrace your love even when it travels beneath surface

Moving past skin, flesh and bone cutting deep into my inner parts surgery making a hole

That only your Son Jesus can fill but the pain for me to feel others at this place

When wound is fresh and emotions feelings pass from them to me such weight

yet to suffer and share in others burdens tis such delight for my soul for I see Your face

For your Spirit is close to those whose hearts are heavy and contrite we cannot debate

How your grace is poured out upon us for great is your love and desire to mold us into

Likeness of Your Son Jesus Christ who is mediator between God and human race

Just as Christ was wounded for us we too are to be wounded on others behalf to

Love the cross as much as the crown to fight the good fight and run the good race
