Mortar

Mortar

A Poem by heido

There is a consumption

A binding

A thickness

It weighs ever so much

Builds ever so slowly

And compresses

I walked yesteryear

Among the footsteps of a fairytale

I drank sweet sweet love

   The most inappropriate of circumstances

I phallacy, to go with the phallus

I built grand walls

Of mortar and tears

They edged around my being

I was once quite lovely

You wouldn't know it now

I was once quite happy

You wouldn't know it now

I was once lovable

You wouldn't know it now

I was once, I was once

I wasn't

There's ash after this journey

Thick

Clinging to my lungs

My hands

I imagine I shall die of it

Perhaps in among the death

I will know peace

Quite profound. Thank you.

The form fits the function well. The entire piece is one shot to the solar plexus after another...knocked my breath out a few times. Well done.

ya got me,
ya drew me in.

there's a commonality we usually over look, betrayal and pain warps us, mutates us..i used to think i was the only one who could see it..your metaphors and their connection to the realest thing we know, our own body, not being able to breath, as if the bitter pain of an experience could be represented as the dark, not ash--perhaps after a village is burned....how many suffer silently, through out history....we all share in the tragedy....thankfully, we are not alone....

thank you for sharing, your piece was moving.

That is harsh. Love the progression and the way you formatted this. Nicely done. Kudos.
