Idolitry

Idolitry

A Poem by heido

Beg of me, my patience

Build of me, my begotten state

A child am I

A daughter am I

The lover, the lost, the broken, the born

He is as I am and I am as him

In his image that is

The word made flesh

A trinity prescribed, torn apart and debated

Can a portion of God have died

Cross erected and idolized

How many sins must one commit

I make an idol of Christ

On bended knee I commit idolitry

Rosaries to repent upon

Small beads between my finger tips

Counting out the Acts

Apostles to the Rome

My gospels immortalized

Agnostic's give way to Atheist's

Terms that should not exist

Agnostic's give way to Deist's

Denominations are binding

I am not doctrinized

I am given to faith

Really thought-provoking piece heido.. so true. I'm am shamefully an agnostic... I'm not proud, haha.

Poem is very good. Took me on the search for reason and belief. I have been trying to understand religion and God for 51 years. I know the same as 40 years ago. Still trying find answers. Many strong lines leading me to a good ending in the poem.
