Speek Softer

Speek Softer

A Poem by heido

Those who hate most fervently must have once loved

deeply, those who want to deny the world must have once

embraced what they now set on fire.”

                    • Kurt Tucholsky

The only evidence I have of my love, is my grief

The dull ache in my chest in the long hours of the night that never cease

The empty space in my bed that creates the nameless rage in my heart

The ghost that sits upon my dresser and mocks

Young lover with your broken heart

Why must you wheep

I can't sleep young lover

He wasn't yours to keep..

Quiet now mourner, I am tired

Speek softer ghost.. I have yet to die of your words

Speek softer ghost.. I haven't yet washed myself away

Speek softer ghost.. speek softer

Set fire to the world young lovers

 Run the world young lovers

Be honest, and kind and faithful young lovers

The ghost is afoot and with him comes grief

Cling quick young lovers

On young lovers, there is only fire

There is only the burn
