Maybe All Really Is Already Helped

You met with me again,

There you were,

Little sister and best friend,

And it was like a day hadn’t passed.

 

I could see your past,

You crying on my chest,

While I was trying to try my best

To hold you tight enough to scare

The demons, to prove I cared

Enough to love you as you were.

 

I remember that, yet here you are,

And by Jove, you’re alive!

Thank God He gave you life!

I can only imagine all the things

That could have happened,

All the paths you had before you,

All the roads you could have taken.

 

And I love you.

Not for the fire in your eyes,

Not for the heart full of life,

Not for your love that has to shine,

But for you being.

 

I can’t forget you, and I love it.

You’re the muse who tells me to sing,

Who tells me to live,

Who’s seen it all,

Been there for everything.

 

Thank you for being here with me:

The sister who won’t leave,

Who cares enough to see,

Looking through all my smoky screens.

 

I missed your heartbeat.

But I have it now,

And it’s enough for me.

So I saw my friend and someone I consider a little sister recently, and I missed her like crazy. This is a little more directly about someone than I usually write, so it might not be quite so poetic, but its okay. I love you. :)

'but its okay' nah. I would say that it's MORE than okay. Personal experiances carry quite a bit of weight and when written as well as you write them, they are powerful peices. This is very well crafted and compelling too. Terrific job.
