To The Notes

A Poem by trainwreck

Do you remember the magic

We had back then,

Way back when

You and I were young,

Just scorching in the sun,

You and I, two lost souls on the run?

Do you recall the memory

Of when your soul first kissed me?

Is it fading? What can’t I see?

Why, exactly, are we hiding?

Baby, please, please, please…

Remember.

Remember loathing me.

Remember loving me.

Remember holding me.

Remember anything!

I think I know why I’m quiet now;

Broken walls that won’t be torn down,

A melody I could sing without a sound,

A song for those alone,

The piece for the bird that has already flown.

My muse,

Oh I miss you.

Oh! How I’ve missed you.

The only one who could give me dreams,

The lover who could shred me at the seams.

Oh my musicality,

My morality,

The one to whom I sold me.

My angel who fell in flames,

I’m begging.

I don’t care how it sounds,

But please….

Once more, for the crowd,

Just sing me my name.

I'm glad I read your profile before I read this. I can definitely see the songwriter in you. The poem was beautiful, and would make such a lovely song. The line, "My angel who fell in flames" just touched me. I'm not sure why exactly. Probably because it's just such powerful imagery. Truly great work!

Longing for a love once had now lost, but it can never be forgotten.

Some have the words, some have their tones... and a few have the full weave .

Do you write the music down?

I usually record it and write a lead sheet. So far I haven't posted any of my song lyrics to the Caf.. read more

A sad and beautiful poem. I like the desire to rebirth something lost. The good description took the reader into good memories and wishes. Thank you for the excellent poem.
