The Silver Birch

The Silver Birch

A Poem by Edward Tapper
"

My love of nature

"

Against a pure blue winters sky

With mellow limestone far below

Birch trees and mighty oak

Grow thick upon the brow

Lone and tall, deep rooted, strong

A Silver Birch that stands apart

The fervent blow of spring-times hue

Brings forth its beating heart

Hands against this mighty tree

My arms around it twine

The sap inside vibrates and grows

Like natures heart to mine

A curious chill has filled the air

But my arms around it cling

Oh how I love this calm hillside

And the consuming days of spring

A beautifully crafted poem conveying well the beauty and peace of existence as found in nature. I especially liked the way the concluding two lines seem to sum up things so well, excellent work
