Her words cut deep

Her words cut deep

A Poem by Taji Herbert

She told me I was No One

I believe her

I looked in the mirror

And only saw the things behind me

I am No One

Not just

No one important

Not just

No one cool

Not just

No one special

Undesignated and unimportant

Just Plain No One

Her words cut deep

With one phrase she severed my ties to everyone

I was alienated

Estranged

Unwanted

Alone

I was No One as soon as she said it

Disconnected from friends and family

No One knows who you are

But you don’t know who No One is

actually makes the reader feel a gnawing sensation and emptiness that's so well expressed.. esp the controlled use of short phrases and spacing pattern
"Undesignated and unimportant
Just Plain No One".. goes through and direct... liked it .

Ooh, I like this. Great use of the motif, and every emotional. I could suggest possibly adding some punctuation in, though. Most poems at least have a little. But otherwise, good job.

This was so sad, i felt like this before.. its such a dark place to be.
Really like the last line, "you don't know who No One is" ,always leave it with questions, more mysteries for the mind to wonder :
