The Stranger Behind

The Stranger Behind

A Poem by Soul Cemetery

Falling.

I feel your fear as I watch from my window .

The sleepless nights I sit and wait.

Wait for you to walk by.

The streets are dark with unknown shadows.

Shadows from where you came.

I see all from up high.

But you, you have no idea

of the danger behind.

He waits and watches.

Watches you as you walk the streets,

looking for somewhere to sleep.

Your doorway is taken tonight and you pass by.

Alone, cold and desperate.

Are you desperate enough.

Enough to accept the promises and dreams.

Offered by the stranger behind.

He's been watching you for days.

Almost as long as I.

He is danger

I am spectator in the too common nightmare that unfolds

before me.

He gets your attention

Offers food, warmth and love.

Only one thing in return....

Will you deal with the devil my sweet young man.

Or will you try and make your way home?
