When keeping your house, advice from a mouseA Poem by Heather Cortia poem story teaching a child how to clean their room“When
keeping your house Nice and
neat”, said the mouse “pick just
one room Sing a nice
tune And follow
what I espouse . . . First, clean
up in layers With the
floor and stairs See what’s
shiny Grab what’s tiny Have fun, do
it with flair Put the
clothes into a pile Using
artistic style Grab all
your toys Young girls
and boys See! Carpet
and tile! With the
floor’s clean and nice Oh, please
take my advice Drop all
those toys Young girls
and boys Into an organizing
device Put your
alphabet blocks And your
favorite stuffed fox Your dolls
and cars Your wishing
stars All into the big toy box Shelve all
your books About gobbledygook Time to
attack That puzzle
rack There .
. in all of those nooks Your bed’s messy,
unmade Sheets and
pillows mislaid Bottom to
top Pull them,
don’t stop Let the
blanket cascade Now, hang
all your clean clothes In the
closet they go Shirts on
this side Pants right
beside And your
shoes all in one row The mouse’s
direction Of cleaning
in sections Makes smiles
gleam Your pride
will beam Seeking your
room’s perfection Today’s
lesson is clear You have
nothing to fear “cleaning
your house, Boasted the
mouse With
delight’s happy cheer When your
room’s a cyclone By defining the
zone Clothes,
bed, and toys Young girls
and boys You can
clean it all on your own!!! © 2012 Heather Corti |
