Things are Different Now.

Things are Different Now.

A Poem by Tiarra Templeton

We can't believe in what we can't see
Always needing proof to find destiny
We walk past each other and I can't believe
It's come down to this, this unfair misery

'Cause you can promise you'll never go,
But no one really stays forever
Look at your watch and start to wonder
How much time it takes to forget her
Now, I've walked down that road
What seems like too many times
And I've found that even in darkness
There's always sunshine

Oh, look at us, we've lost ourselves
Keep trying to be somebody's somebody else
We fooled our minds into thinking we're ready
When our heartbeats tell us that they're not even steady
But I've now found a cure, a melody
To keep us apart, you and me
I'll drain the good times, my memory
And tell myself that this is how is has to be

The sun still shines when you're not near
The black, midnight skies are still starry and clear
There's music in my heart that replaces the fear
The world keeps moving when you're no longer here

I know this is jumbled. I know parts don't flow well. It's old, and it all kind of came out at once.

Who needs perfect flow... poetry is about emotions and emotions never flow perfectly...

I really like this part:

Oh, look at us, we've lost ourselves
Keep trying to be somebody's somebody else
We fooled our minds into thinking we're ready
When our heartbeats tell us that they're not even steady

Very well done.

Actually, not as bad as you say. I would just break up some of the stanzas. Maybe resequence a few depending on the meaning you want to convey. I think I get what you're trying for here. Definitely hit me with a "read request" if you make any changes:)
