Running at the First Sign of Danger.

Running at the First Sign of Danger.

A Poem by Tiarra Templeton
"

Being scared. Trust issues and hope.

"
I'm running at the first sign of danger,
Gotta' get out of here while I can
I want badly to do this, wanna' just make it through this,
Don't wanna' go without holding your hand
But if I run, then I run on forever
It's not something that's childish or carefree
I'm trying not to expect to be running,
But baby, I'll see

I'm happy 'cause this time it feels different,
And I'm hoping that we'll make it through
You just gotta' keep trying, and no, I'm not lying,
A heart can't hold tons without bursting in two
And you say that the past, it don't matter,
That we know that love won't let us fall
And I'm hoping and praying that there will be days
Where I don't think of the past at all

So, I'm running at the first sign of danger,
Gotta' get out of here while I can
It may not seem like much, but your soft, simple touch
Would itself keep my toes in the sand
Yeah, I'm running, but inside I'm still wishing,
Wishing you we're here right beside me
And you say there's no need to be running,
But baby, we'll see

Through all of this, please just know that I love you
And I know there's a lot that's at stake
If we just make it through this, I know we can do this,
And if I have to, there's risks that I'll take
But you have to keep my heart untangled
With my head, keep the bad voices out
I'd love to start over, a new four-leaf clover,
And we feel like we're up with the clouds

Some, they run at the first sign of danger,
And some fight back to stay while they can
'Cause a soft, simple touch means ever so much
To some people as they dance on the sand
Others run, but they run close together,
Holding hands, running - free as can be
And you say I won't do any running,
But baby, let's see

I sure hope I won't do any running,
Without you next to me.
