Independent Woman

Independent Woman

A Poem by Dhaye
"

Inspired by a story of a single mother

"

I wake up early today
To welcome the morning dew and the sun
I start with a solemn prayer
So I can be an independent woman

The house is a stage of many tasks
There's sadness and there's fun
But everyday ends with a strength
I should be an independent woman

I used to walk alone in the streets
People always ask me why
I smile and show that everything's okay
To be an independent woman

My pride is not that harmful
I just want to show that I can
Even the world leave me alone
For I am an independent woman.

Good to be single and content. In my young days. I loved to travel. Hard to find people with the same want. Being single allowed us to roam at will.

I'm glad and you are welcome.
Very empowering write, Dhaye. Gone were the days where women are dependent to their spouse in most aspects.

Yes, that's true. Thank you so much, Gab.
A no nonsense manifesto.
Skillfully and articulately conveyed.
Great read, Dhaye!

Thank you for reading and leaving your words here, sir.
this is a wonderful salute...there is strength in the meaning of these words...

i have many single moms as students...and they really have so much to balance...and most do it so well, they are like magic...

and they do it all for their kids...the dependents who depend on the independents...
