SCOLD ME NOT

SCOLD ME NOT

A Chapter by Dhaye
"

For the 10 words I Give contest

"
Scold me not, Mom, but give me your resonant words
I feel like savoring your nutritious food
Unlike  soda  that I drink so fast yet nothing I could get
Your echo will whirl deep inside me for my own good

At first they might smash my ego and my pride
Creating a verse  of sudden thunder screams
But in the end they would turn into a beautiful lace
That will decorate my river of hopes and dreams

Scold me not, Mom, just give me your resonant words
My reward will be that tangible to hold
Give them to me before the trains come today
I will carry them wherever I go as my priceless gold.

N U T R I T I O U S
W H I R L
L A C E
S M A S H
V E R S E

*I remember my mother scolding me and advising me whenever I make a mistake. I understand now why she did it...now that I am already a mother.
But I do believe that even discipline is good, parents should be careful of the words they will give to their children.

A lovely poem. Congratulations with the 10 Words I Give You contest. I also agree with your authors comment as I often get scolded by my mother but then later, after I've calmed down, I begin to agree with what she has said although at the time I wished she would have approached the topic differently. Once again a wonderful poem, well done.

Thank you for giving the inspiration. I enjoy writing a poem for a challenge.
A lovely and gentle admonition for your mother to offer only helpful, healing words.
That you will savor those precious words demonstrates your love and high regard for Mom.
A pleasure to read, Dhaye!

Thank you, Frank.
This is the essence of every child's expectations. The voice of a parent, whether in sweet praise or harsh reprimand or gentle correction is the ultimate influence and shapes his or her soul and leads them into light or darkness. A parent therfore, is next to God and has to play his or her role with much sensitivity and responsibility.

Beautifully written and expressed Dhaye!
