Ode To A Great Man (Ode)

Ode To A Great Man (Ode)

A Poem by Dhaye
"

An attempt to write a Classic but Flexible Ode

"

A fair man, noble but is great

He speaks of glorious things to men

He teaches love and not ‘bout hate

He leads through power of his pen

Those mighty words, I won’t forget

I do believe, I won’t regret

I don’t know how I can tell these

This ode I made was not that cool

But one fine thing will surely please

I strictly followed just one rule-

I clearly stated my respect

I’ll stand with my words, no neglect

If there’s a way to hold  his hands

I’ll be the first to fall in line

I’ll hug him tightly where he stands

And whisper him my words so fine

His avid fan, I am that one

Forever he’s my admired man.

Author's Note

Dhaye
The Ode generally has three parts: a strophe, an antistrophe, and an epode. The antistrophes of the ode possess similar metrical structures and, depending on the tradition, similar rhyme structures. In contrast, the epode is written with a different scheme and structure.

"Classic but flexible Ode"

French poet Pierre de Ronsard was a key ode revivalist. He took the classic Pindaric story structure of strophe-antistrophe-epode and then added a closing couplet to each quatrain to form sestet stanzas with ababcc rhyme schemes.

It is great when we can step out of our comfort zone and try something different (I tried Shakespearian once) anyways I enjoyed this different style from you.
