Poem 11. THE CAPTIVE

A Chapter by Dhaye

I know a man who does not smile
Who always pout, and yell, and cry
He doesn't want to look around
All he can see's his dirty ground.

He doesn't even make a glance
Or walk near the window if there's a chance
What he only does everyday
Is to sit down where he stay.

He said, "I do not want to see
The things outside which are so free
When I get out, the rain will fall
Who wants to be wet? I'm not a fool!"

So he stayed in his empty room
Decided to be there until his doom
And when he feels he's almost weak
He gets near the window for something to pick.

Then he sees those children there
Laughing while playing under the rain
Then he said "When I was a child
I never played, Ive grown so wild."

So he gathers all of his strength
To go outside, that's what he thinks
He crawls outside his empty room
And feel the rain while he face his doom!

Author's Note

Dhaye
Better late than never. It's not too late to feel the goodness of the things we thought so bad...like the rain.

Just another concept for my collection.

At least he felt the replenishing rainfall before it was too late, what a stubborn old man he was !

A fascinating piece of fine poetic philosophy !
