I SHOWED MY FACE (Free Verse)

A Chapter by Daisie Vergara (Dhaye)
"

just because...

"

I saw a world of faceless people

where heart is not a part of the body

and mind is the dominating piece

while mouth is a subordinating component.

I saw them, I heard them

so I showed myself unto them

      and I sang my song

      and painted their stories.

But I made a mistake

when I showed myself unto them-

      they chased me

and laughed out of my court.

And I made another mistake

       when I sang my song-

they shouted at me to stop

       so I forgot my lines.

Then I made one more mistake

        when I painted their stories-

        they grabbed my canvass

and  threw it piece by piece....

Like my heart

       broken into pieces

       they tried to crush it

       just because...

       I showed my face.

we make ourselves vulnerable when we express our inner feelings...and often our heart gets crushed---

those faceless, heartless people who never show themselves.

reminds me of high school dances when the guys would laugh at me because i got out on the floor and danced...always the first one...they laughed but it was because they couldn't dance themselves...so it made them feel better about themselves to make fun of me...it's like that with people.

but i have always believed in showing the real me regardless of consequence.

really like this poem...last line in fifth stanza might be "and threw it piece by piece"---

Sad and filled with emotion. Your words hold so much pain. People can be cruel, but not everyone. Don't stop showing your face.

Thanks a lot, Ms. J. Your smile is an inspiration this morning. :)
Very emotional piece, Ate. I can feel your pain and brokenness.. Thanks for allowing me to have a glimpse of your scars. And... stay being you and don't cover your face.
