Poem 18. THE VISIONARIES

Poem 18. THE VISIONARIES

A Chapter by Dhaye
"

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” ---Nelson Mandela

"

Once a dreamer said to himself,

“I am a student full of hopes.

I can get that something I delve

I’ll cross the line, holding my ropes.

Oh, nation, dear land,  hear me please

Show me not a dime a dozen

But a new path, could be the best

Let dying hope alive again.”

A parent’s mind is also full

Discerning things for his offspring

“Does the state has its finest rule?

New policies, what would they bring?

I hope, I dream the finest road

For my children, they have to take

Curriculum, now it is broad

Longer and better for children’s sake?”

Then a teacher vents his wishes

“As  a trainer, I also dream

The best, the luck, and not the mess

My students now, deserve the grin.

I teach to fill the empty space

I live to share, to patch, to mend

Oh, nation, hear me. Hear me, please

We need to bind, but stretch to lend.

Our nation’s now in it’s utmost

Believe me, dear, it’s for our dreams

Our children’s skills won’t take the cost

But they will grow to block  the streams.”

The first dreamer smile awhile

Then say these words to both of them:

“Now I commend my future life

I’m safe, I’m blessed to have a dream.”

Thank you, Moon. :)
This is a very inspiring, profound write and I agree with Divya... very encouraging. I enjoyed the back and
Fourth dialogue you incorporated within this poem, brings more of a realistic light to the subject at
Hand. Wonderful use of language and fluidity also, Dhaye. Thank you for sharing :)

I think it was Napoleon Bonaparte that said : " Open a school , close ten jails...Education is knowledge, light and a right. The backbone of civilizations. Most countries now are making it compulsory till high school at least...A wonderful write...Inspirational...:)

ou are welcome...:)
It is only with education can there be dreams for knowledge alone is power. And it's the teachers who are the key here, because the architects of a nation are fashioned in their hands. They give values and education for uplifting a society. A very thought-provoking write Dhaye, a very encouraging thought. Thanks for sharing.

i've read a quote once which sort of state that: those who cannot do teach. i strongly disagree with it not only because my mother is retired member of the academe but i know that the words of teachers inspire student to aim high.. to dream, to achieve, to change life. and second to their parents, it is the teachers who strengthen and inculcate values in them. whenever past students of my mom would see her or learn that i am her daughter, they would speak nothing except gratitude for the things instilled in them. as a daughter, i am truly humbled and proud that my mom has live to what she teach.
teachers are very close to my heart, this piece just make me feel more proud of my mom. thank you for sharing this wonderful piece.
