CHAPTER IX. THE FIRST BATTLEA Chapter by DhayeOh, no. I am scared again. Why do we have to change the contract? What’s going on?“Clarisse, wake up!” it’s Marian again. “There’s a phone call from the office of Mr. Morales.” “What?!” I immediately get up and pick the phone. “Hello?” “Hello, good morning. Miss Vicente, This is Miss Santos. You need to report here at 10:00 am. There will be changes in our contract. Mr. Morales wants to see you. . I am sorry, it was my fault. “ “O-Okey, I will be there.” Oh, no. I am scared again. Why do we have to change the contract? What’s going on? My heart is pounding while waiting at the office of Mr. Morales. His private room is still closed. Maybe I am too early than the time of our appointment this day. Miss Santos seems scared also. She did not say anything to me but I can see in her face that she is worrying on something.
The door opens and a beautiful lady comes out wearing an elegant smile. She’s carrying a portfolio and if I am not mistaken, a painter’s portfolio. A painter? Oh, My God! “Let’s get inside his room, Miss Vicente,” said Miss Santos while holding some paper which I think about the contract I’ve signed yesterday. My hear beats faster. We entered the room both with fear. “Good morning, Sir,” I greeted him. “Please have a seat, Miss Vicente,” he told me. “Where’s the contract, Miss Santos?” he directly asked his secretary. “Here, Sir,” Miss Santos seems more scared. “I am sorry, Miss Vicente. But this contract is canceled. Miss Santos and I had a misunderstanding on this project.” “W-What do you mean, Sir?” my tears are going to fall down. It’s unfair! “You're not the one I’ve chosen for this project. It’s Miss Cornado, the one who just left.” I looked at his faced full of questions. “Okay, Miss Santos. You explain it to her,” he ordered to Miss Santos. “Miss Vicente, I am so sorry. It’s really my fault. Actually, we only have one project here, but Mr. Morales is asking me a favor to look for another painter who will work for him personally. We have chosen the two of you for the said jobs. I have made a mistake when I called you last Friday while actually it should be Miss Cornado.” “Because she’s the one perfect for this project!” Mr. Morales interrupted while smiling sarcastically. “What do you mean, Sir? I am not perfect for the project?”Miss Santos interrupted. “No, miss Vicente. You will be hired to his personal project. Same price. You won’t lose a job here. It will become in private only. You will work with Mr. Morales.” I looked at Mr. Morales with a question in my face. “Yes, you’re not perfect for this one, but for another painting job.” I just look at his face. “Miss Santos, you can leave us now. Thank you for explaining it right,” he is smiling now to Miss Santos. “No, Sir. It’s my fault. You don’t have to thank me.” Miss Santos get out of the room as he wished. © 2013 DhayeFeatured Review
