The Beauty in Me

The Beauty in Me

A Chapter by Daisie Vergara (Dhaye)
"

For true beauty is not skin-deep...

"

The beauty in me is not skin-deep
Like a treasure you would hunt
Like a gift you would keep
The beauty in me  is that something to touch.

The beauty in me is not hollow
Like a music you would empathize
Like the story you would know
The beauty in me is that something to realize.

The beauty in me is not that apparent
Like the sound in the air
Like the door unopened
The beauty in me depends on what I think...

Am I beautiful?
The beauty in me is now clearly seen
On the mirror of my mind and soul
The beauty in me that will never fade away.

When I was sixteen, a female friend in her early twenties saw me in town with the girlfriend I had at the time. Later, she told me, "Sammy, I thought you'd have a pretty girlfriend." Her words were tough to swallow, and I felt a combination of anger and embarassment. Sure, I knew my girl didn't have a great face, but her figure was amazing and I liked her. Society too often places value on the unimportant and superficial.

I love this, it is so important that we see inner beauty. That which exists within ourselves and that which exists in others.

Thanks :)
Yes there's beauty in everyone somewhere deep inside, and only a few will ever be able to see it, for only those who truly care will get to look deeper inside a being.¨

Wonderful poem.
