Powerful Woman

Powerful Woman

A Poem by Lonnie

There's a certain power in someone who knows what giving up is.
You should be scared of someone like me.
Nothing can prepare you for my storm and the rainbow
within me when it passes.
Nothing could save you from the way I plant myself into your life
and hope you flourish from what I've given you when I'm gone.
No one could love you in the way I have been known to love and give everything until I have nothing left.
You should be scared of the woman I am, who has no limits.
Who knows how to survive and walk out the other end of hell,
without a scratch.
Your parents could of never prepared you for a woman like me.
I'm everything chaotic and beautiful.
I'm every bit of worthy as I am flawed and own it.
I am all the broken promises you aren't build to endure.
I'm the aches and pains you think you have, but
yet we don't share the same wounds.
I have scars on scars and somehow, little by little,
roses blossom through every crack no matter how big
or small.
I am heavy.
I am rough.
I am the feeling before you jump, if you dare to.
My heart is as deep as deep can possibly get.
There are no ocean floors.
I'm the woman who chooses herself
while you choose me too.
I can't be tied down and kept caged.
There aren't many women like me
but there is not enough.
I'm the few.
I'm as real as it gets.
