The Predator

The Predator

A Poem by The Otter
"

One of my first tries at an ode. It was an assignment at school, and I'm pretty happy with the results. I submitted it into a contest, and it was picked to be published in a poem book.

"

A mottled color of browns and black,
your lustrous fur coat shines
resembling stars in the moonlight,
transfixing me.
Your howl is like a kitten,
weeping out in the hushed night
when it’s strayed too far away
from its mother.
I could gaze into your profound, mesmerizing eyes
for eternity; they are akin to
twin pools of light,
car beams dancing across
the road.
Oh predator, oh wolf,
your strength and stealth,
could have no true
description, no true words, to tell how.
Your walk is a gallop,
graceful legs positioned cautiously
one after another,
in a continual pattern
Your paw steps are silent,
like the wing beats of an owl,
stalking your prey, eyes gleaming
with determination and valor.
You are the silent hunter,
the silent hunter of the night and day.
You, my wolf,
are the survivor.

Some words are confusing using graceful, gallop, and wolf. A wolf is graceful, but when does it gallop?

Love the descriptions, very nice control of content. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to reading more from you. :D
