Spooky
Cobwebs, spiders, pumpkins, witches and wolves
Made the childhood scary stories I’d been told.
“They’re not true”-- words that strengthened my resolves,
Though my back couldn’t ignore the grot
cold.
Just as I thought they’re all fictitious,
I was proven they don’t exist just in tales.
Lovely pumpkins tell fibs so malicious
like casting spells with long grimy nails.
A hag, you say? Oh, you bet I know it!
Physic’lly a hag, sure, is forgivable,
Though many would judge in a second’s beat.
The witch, in her own power’s vincible.
Creepy- crawlies don’t require legs of eight;
They’re around you and I just waiting calmly
Beside webs to trap bugs too innocent
To suck them out of life oh-so-harshly.
Wolves"extremely mysterious, dangerous.
Dare not to be duped by looks and silver tongues,
Or end in disaster that’s enormous.
Now it’s time, it’s time to sharpen your fangs!
