'Family' Photos

'Family' Photos

A Poem by Hollywood

Who are these people?

Squeeze us in together,

to create 'family' photos.

We offer our fake smiles,

it pleases you.

Cheese.

Click, flash.

Click.

Cheese.

Flash.

Someone's arm brushes mine.

However, I don't hug anyone when we say goodbye.

It's akward.

Family Reunion.

I soooooooooooooooooooo can relate to this! Whenever I am with my inlaws, there's this awkward spot where we say goodbye to one another and everyone else hugs - but not me. I hate it! I hate even TOUCHING them. I just don't feel like I belong. It's really not that much different at my mothers. I guess you aren't alone! It's sad. Family shouldn't be that way.

This seems very true in lots of cases. Sometimes, it always feels strange and uncomfortable to be around all your relatives...especially if you haven't seen them in a while. Or, sometimes you just don't get along with your siblings and like hurting them before the picture! Nicely written poem.

As a photographer and a member of a very large extended family that only seems to come together randomly at many years apart, I really related to this. Very well stated!!!

Family, fun, fun. The obligitory hug? So phoney...especially with in-laws or reunions. Nice, short stacatto for the camera sounds. Cute and soooo true!

Amazing. Aside from the misspelling of "these" And the O being capitalized in "However" I don't see anything about this piece that I would change. I love the whole "Cheese. Click, flash, click. Cheese". I thought that was brilliant. Just small snippets of a moment that took longer than that. Well done, darlin.
