A Love Poem?

A Love Poem?

A Poem by Heather D
"

My professor wants a love poem for valentines day...opinions please :)

"

A love poem.

I'm supposed to write

A love poem?

I'm not in love...

What is love?

Who says it has to be

Cards,

Flowers,

Date nights.

That's all

Bullshit.

Fake.

Putting off

The inevitable:

Pain.

Then I think,

I do have love.

I have you,

My best friend.

You give me hope

As I dance

On the edge

Of despair.

You make me laugh

Until the concept of

Breathing

Is unthinkable.

You're brutally honest.

You'll tell me,

"Yes,

That does, in fact,

Make you look pale.

Put on the red shirt,

And shut up."

You're the only person

Who can catch me

Before I fall

To pieces.

I love you Chris.

For being my

Rock.

Motivation.

Voice of reason.

Best friend.

And so much more.

This is GREAT!!!! What greater love could their be but the love that was expressed between 2 friends. Two very dear special friends this poem is so touching in many wonderful ways, Thank you for letting me read this!

Oh I love it! I like the point you make about love being about best friends, not just boyfriends or girlfriends. A good point you make, love does exist in many forms!
So sweet!

The best part of this poem is the imagery. You did that when you told us how blunt he is. I feel like I could identify w/ it more if you put more of this into it. Instead of saying: You make me laugh actually give us a memento. It allows the reader to get a taste of what it is you are feeling when you put the writer write smack into it. How was he your rock? Other than that I think it's great.
