A Love Poem?

My professor wants a love poem for valentines day...opinions please :)

A love poem.

I'm supposed to write

A love poem?

I'm not in love...

 

What is love?

Who says it has to be

Cards,

Flowers,

Date nights.

That's all

Bullshit.

Fake.

Putting off

The inevitable:

Pain.

 

Then I think,

I do have love.

I have you,

My best friend.

You give me hope

As I dance

On the edge

Of despair.

You make me laugh

Until the concept of

Breathing

Is unthinkable.

 

You're brutally honest.

You'll tell me,

"Yes,

That does, in fact,

Make you look pale.

Put on the red shirt,

And shut up."

 

You're the only person

Who can catch me

Before I fall

To pieces.

I love you Chris.

For being my

Rock.

Motivation.

Voice of reason.

Best friend.

 

And so much more.

I don't see this as a love poem. More like a inspirational story to those who don't know what it feels like to have someone who treats you right. A person who doesn't abuse you, or dismiss you. It's great to have someone that you can share life's pleasures with. Your poem is written with this message in mind. Great job!

I agree with coyote poetry. good friends are hard to find many of mine are like family to me without the Lord my son & my friends i would fall apart my son my little angel that i love he keeps me on my toes. this a beautiful expression of love, i love it great work. god bless lily

there is no love like the love you have for a best friend. Sometimes that best frien is there for you more than someone who loves you as a girlfiriend or boyfriend. I can't imagine life without my bff!!!

yes, love doesn't have to be about girlfriends or boyfriends for it's way more than that. you can feel loved not only by people with whom you share intimate relationships, but also by family, friends, neighbors, even pets. ;)
this is a perfect way of saying thanks to people who have shared you love.

A real friend is what love is. Someone who like you in the morning looking rough and needing a shower. A very good poem. Need to be friends then more. Otherwise will miss the real emotion of love. Lust is easy. Love takes time and patience. A outstanding poem.
