crossing the streetA Poem by alittledistractionI no longer looks both ways before crossing the street.I no longer look both ways before crossing the street And no, it’s not the voice in my head is telling me not to For once, this is for me I want to cross the street, unknowing what may happen Will I meet the mundane sidewalk or an unknown end? I know both situations can’t always be guaranteed But, so far I have only been greeted by the concrete under my feet But when the day comes where I discover something more, That is when things will get neat If you asked, “What would you do if I were to hit you with my car” I’d respond quite simply: I’d visit you every day after dark Whether I would be coming up from hell or down from heaven, God only knows, I would visit you as a demon or angel, but it wouldn’t matter though. Either way I would thank you You’ve saved me from evil I no longer will feel sorrow, instead I’ll truly heal Yet if I find out you have true malice in your heart and hatred for others I will take it upon myself to terrorize and not nurture You will forever remember my presence, whether you like it or not I'll make you wish that instead, it was your life that was cut short Now, would it be safer to look both ways before crossing? Perhaps But unfortunately for you, I will continue to have my fun A little adventure hasn’t killed me just yet, but once it does you might need to run © 2020 alittledistraction |
