Echoes (Aphrodite)

I can’t help it, I see you in everything

Here I sit
And stare out the window
As the sky glitters and clouds ripple lazily and sway and twist and turn as if Aphrodite herself is touching them with a careless caress
And yet, and yet, I can’t help but think of you
Because the flicker of lights against a star-filled sky only makes me think of glitter dancing across wine-deep eyes
And the sweet echo of your laughter rings in my ear with every gentle note singing from the radio
Maybe Aphrodite knows this
Because she whispers your name against the ink black night
And breathes your soul to warm ice cold hands
If she’s the goddess of love, then the world must be shaped by her
Because every step I take, she treads beside me
and in her wake, I can’t help but see you
