Every Brick

Every Brick

A Chapter by J. Viands

For every brick that lies in place,

It blocks the way to better things.

With all its restrictions,

Lifeless mortar is bound to be laid to waste.

Before than I urge you to climb over it,

Run for your life and never look back at it.

Respect free wills rebellion.

Keep in mind the protection it intended.

For every brick that blocks every path,

It will take some time to walk around them.

As for why that is, so many reasons could be implemented.

You may find yourself feeling sorry for it,

Or maybe better off placing it where you did.

Sometimes it’s dominating,

Many times pathetic,

Other times it’s needed.

But it will always remain what it is.

Great job. I really liked this. It made me picture someone walking through the ruins of an old foundation, maybe of a shattered castle, the bricks obstructing their will, stubbing the toes of their rebellion. "run for your life....free will's rebellion" these two lines were the only real part I felt needs some rewording. Run for your life is used too often I feel, but that's just my opinion, and the line "free will's rebellion" just doesn't sound right metrically. But all in all, wonderful work.

It’s literally about a wall
