Haunting You

Haunting You

A Chapter by J. Viands

See my shadow fill this room

I know a memory of me is haunting you

I’ll watch the tears stream down your face

With a shameful grin in the place of what you can’t take

I will chew up your pain and spit it out again

All in the name of the agony I placed in your life

Don’t you remember the blissful taste of the hate?

You placed in our lives when you said all ambition was gone

I should just stop trying and give up the fight

God if I only knew what swirled in your head

Time shows I won’t

As you well know sweetheart revenge is a dish best served cold

So sit and wallow in the memory of me

With nothing but a bottle to hold close

Somewhere along the lines you forgot to grow

I have walked away from everything you couldn’t

Just to let you know
