Reminders: Chapter Four

“So you yelled at him?” Eppie asked. She was referring to the incident that had just happened between me and Dustin in last period.
“Well…” I said sheepishly. She was going to be mad about this. “Kind of. But I didn’t mean to. I just don’t want to remember last year. Not now, not ever. So I would just really appreciate it if we could let this go.” Eppie frowned.
“Okay.” she said, “Whatever you want.”

“Honestly,” Eppie said, “I don’t see what you’re still mad about. The jerk moved away, she had to have a baby, all’s good. You’re single and beautiful and not a heartless teenage mother who put her child up for adoption. You win here.” I looked down at my toes, which I was currently painting coral pink.
“Eppie. Please. I really don’t want to talk about it.” Eppie let out a sigh of breath and continued browsing through her closet. She was planning on making “a quick appearance” to Marissa’s party with Adam, and I know she wouldn’t even do that if Adam weren’t going. Eppie was a good girlfriend. I knew she didn’t want him to go but he had friends that were going and she wasn’t going to be a control freak and tell him that he wasn’t allowed to go. It was in her nature to let people be free-willed.
“Does it still hurt that bad, Jo?” Eppie asked me. She was pushing it. I took in a sharp breath.
“Yeah, it does.” I said quietly, going back to my toes.
“You really did love him, too, didn’t you?”
            “Yeah, I did.”

Okay, so, in case you're lost, this part of the story is going back to Jody being a tenth grader.

This is a nice story. I give you credit for writing in first person so well. I know a few that have problems with that. Nice little chapter. Looking forward to your next installment.
