The Dark Hour

The Dark Hour

A Poem by haywenzo
"

Our fears are the monsters that torment us in the darkness....

"
The sun sets, and the dark hour prevails
the day loses hold as the night shies away from its veil
The monsters creep out of our closets, frightening us
we shiver while we wail, with the fears we nurse
we brace ourselves, hoping we don't get devoured
our courage strengthens, as we become empowered
but the battle is not against the demons, but our fears
the monsters are nothing but illusion and not real as they
appear......................

While this is true in part, haywenzo, there are some monsters lurking in the shadowy recesses which are all too real. You might encounter them in the back alley of some seedy motel. Or perhaps, you never notice them skulking around the corner of the school playground, eying the children as they go out for recess. Oh yes, there are real monsters out there we should all be very afraid of.

Your poem addresses our personal phobias and fears. It's good to face those, head-on, and drag them from the darkened depths and into the light to expose them for what they are.

Excellent poem, my friend. Keep writing...

Yes! We must walk through our fears. They do not always recede but we see that we survive them and do not have to be controlled by them. Thanks for this read!
