While this is true in part, haywenzo, there are some monsters lurking in the shadowy recesses which are all too real. You might encounter them in the back alley of some seedy motel. Or perhaps, you never notice them skulking around the corner of the school playground, eying the children as they go out for recess. Oh yes, there are real monsters out there we should all be very afraid of.
Your poem addresses our personal phobias and fears. It's good to face those, head-on, and drag them from the darkened depths and into the light to expose them for what they are.
