I remember when we walkedA Poem by Hayleyour only friends were the city lights and the only thing on our side was time itself or so we thought maybe in a different world you wouldn't be six feet under with your skull turning to dust in the dark box they put you in you were so much more vibrant than that the way you should've been put into the ground would be surrounded by those feathers you'd cover yourself in when you were on the verge of crumbling you should've been laid in a meadow at night you always said the darkness was much more beautiful than the sunlight that turned your skin tan in the summer maybe that's why you loved who you loved the ones who weren't fit to be alive the ones who were searching for a reason not to lay in front of a train the ones who didn't have a place in the world you died on a bright morning with the sun in your dark eyes the first time you'd been out in daylight in months, perhaps I'm sorry I kept it a secret that while you were telling me you loved me I was watching in anticipation for the vehicle to slam into your fragile frame and take you away © 2013 HayleyReviews
