the night you left

the night you left

A Poem by Hayley

the night you left, I was incurable

I was sure I'd never love again

you'd thrown me under a train,

cut off my air supply

in the worst way

you gave me the best kind of memories

and in one fell swoop

you snatched them from my grasp

and made them mournful distant thoughts

now I'm sitting alone, in my room

there aren't any tears, only heartache

my eyes have run dry and my throat burns

I picture your eyes, your smile

the pain worsens

in the future, I'll be whole again

I feel ripped apart

like I'm sitting alone in a deep and dark empty forest

I'm strong but I never anticipated this force

of a blow to my entire being

I'm strong, but you're stronger

and I'll rise from my predestined grave

and I'll find someone new

I'll see your quirks in them,

I'll see your smile,

your eyes,

your laugh,

but they won't be you

and that's okay with me

Such a great poem.
Seriously represents what a lot of people feel when going through heartache.
I feel your emotions very well in this.

This is what I love about writing; it enables (sometimes forces) pain to come forth into the sunlight from our dungeons and then spills out on pages like the miracle man of The Green Mile came and took a wicked illness away. Once it's out, free and naked for all to see, it turns beautiful and helps heal others.

Thanks for sharing your 'beauty' with the world.

Fantastic write! Great imagery, I loved the images you used to describe the feeling of losing someone, totally relatable and I like the positivity and the power behind it.
"but they won't be you
and that's okay with me"
Loved these line, loved the entire poem.
Well penned :)
